How to fix display at home

if we're all talking about a Vivo X21, then the requests to know how to replace the screen can be answered at the Spanish site Nadie Me Llama Gallina, or Nobody Calls Me Chicken. Here's their guide to that repair.

Unfortunately, the Nadie Me Llama Gallina site appears to have been taken over and taken down, so the previous link to their repair guide is no longer usable. This video goes through the procedure of replacing the screen.

While the basics are correct and will help you, I do have some criticisms of the video that you should be aware of.

First, be sure to remove the SIM card tray before you remove the rear cover. You can damage the SIM card reader if you don't, and if you just go poking the removal tool into random holes in the phone, you risk damaging speakers and microphones, etc. If that was my phone in the video, I'd for sure be testing those before I accepted it as repaired.

Also, the phone in the video has a fingerprint reader on the rear cover, and nowhere in the video do they show disconnecting it. I assume it was yanked off when the cover was removed; please don't do that. You'll need to unfold the cover like a book and manually unplug that connector. I just hope it came unplugged on this phone rather than having the end ripped off, which is what I'm afraid of watching this video.

Next, wait to disconnect anything until you've unplugged the battery. Of course, you need to remove all the screws on the retaining bracket before you start unplugging connectors. After that, you can unplug the display connector and any other parts necessary at the bottom of the phone.

With regard to reassembling the phone, be sure to clean the old adhesive off completely first. Either liquid glue like B7000 or the Tesa tape used in the video will work to resecure the display; I would personally lean toward the glue, but it's up to you.

As the final step, you'll note the author didn't reconnect the fingerprint reader; I'm guessing they did actually tear the end of the reader's cable, so instead of replacing it, they just left the cable out. Be sure to plug it in before you close up the back. Yikes.
