We have a 960 LED icicle light string, one section does not light up. I have tested the light string with a no contact voltage detector, all of the wires and bulbs in the section that doesn’t light up show live voltage. The section goes from 2 wires to 3 wires and then back to 2 wires. All the 3 wires in the faulty section show live voltage, as do all the bulbs. How can I fix this?

when testing with an NCV, one side of the line will show nothing, the other will show voltage. Your tests would indicate there is an open return. IE, the neutral is not connected in that string. A connected string will show varying levels of voltage as you approach the neutral side.
