I use AirPods gen 1 and even with a full charge, the left Airpod dies after 3-5 minutes of using it. I have to put it in the case for a few seconds to get the sound back, but it dies again in a few minutes. Any ideas on what could be causing this?

Most probably the battery is failing and needs to be replaced.

airpods have a 1/10 repair status, maybe try a replacement from ebay?
