How do I do a factory reset

Three questions first:

1.) Why do you want to do a factory reset so we know where you are coming from?

2.) What version of Windows are you using? XP? Vista? 7? 8? 10?

3.) Do you have a USB flash drive and an Internet connection?

I need to reset it so I can pass it on to someone else, it has Windows XP
