Help! My Ethernet Adapter is Overheating

Hi everyone,

I'm facing a problem with my Ethernet adapter, which seems to be overheating. I'm not sure why this is happening, but it's causing some serious issues with my internet connection. I've tried unplugging the adapter and letting it cool down, but the problem persists.

I'm not very tech-savvy, so I'm hoping some of you can offer some advice. What could be causing my Ethernet adapter to overheat? Is there anything I can do to fix it? Do I need to replace it altogether?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

How are you diagnosing this? You pointed to a hub switch which should offer a RMON probe to monitor hardware and packet issues.

Did you try a different port or swap out the sub module or see if the uplink module is just carrying the errors forward from the down stream connection.

I had this same problem ,and popped 2 adapters .I read an article about usb connecters being loose and causing a restart (on the adapter) (using more voltage) - made 3 plastic strips from an old credit card and filed tapered edges -and made shims for each usb port -now my new adapter stays fixed in usb port and it seems my overheating problem has disappeared, no longer burn my hand hot

This is a Hub Switch which has a backplane connection not USB based.
