What's a trustable SSD replacement?

Thanks in advance to anyone who answers!

Hey,

I have a question about getting a new SSD for my Acer C740. The Acer C740 comes with a default SSD, Kingston with 16 GB. I need more storage as I'm using this for personal use which requires me to have more storage.

I was on Amazon looking for an SSD I could substitute with a SATA connector. I came across a 12 US Dollar SSD. It's 64 GB made by a brand called KingShark advertised as "gamer SSD". I don't know if this brand is trustable as it's sold on Amazon and I don't see any traces of it on Google. I was wondering if any other tech-sperts have seen the KingShark SSD and know if it's trustable or have any other drives that are useful. My budget is about $20.

Thanks.

Here's a link to the Amazon description :

@kalyabhatt not a big budget for a trustworthy SSD but I know how life goes. In general I would like to steer you away from those budget drives. You really do not know what you will receive, but you just can't beat the price. Buyer beware. I prefer Kingston, Samsung and Crucial from a reliable seller. Again, I understand budgetary confinements :-)

Agreed with regard to reputable brands, but I have a few things I want to mention that might impact the SSD you buy. It may be a bit harder to find drives that are compatible from reputable brands because this uses a slightly older standard in a non-standard length. Based one what I’m seeing, anyway in the device guides here at iFixit. The one you linked looks like it will be compatible, but the m.2 slot can use a few different types of devices.

This Chromebook uses the older SATA standard. You can tell based on the “keys” on the drive. Most drives you are going to find from my go to brands (Crucial, Samsung, WD depending on the drive) are going to be available in the newer PCIe spec. Which I don’t suspect your Chromebook can use. Even just skimming through crucial’s website they do not have any SATA m.2 drives currently listed.

It also looks like it uses a non-standard length. M.2 drives also come in several lengths. 2280 is the most common (22mmx80mm). But I think this uses a 2242 length, which can be tricker to find. Especially since its an older spec. Picture of what I used for reference just in case I’m full of it.
