Are the pins inside the slot still straight? You can check with a bright torch whether one of them might be bent or broken. Does one of them look different, corroded, not so shiny anymore? If the pins are okay, you can try to clean the slot with gentle blowing. Did you format the memory card with an external device? Did you try with another memory card? Sometimes they simply die.
