Why is the standby Samsung tv light going on and off when TV is off?

My new 32" Samsung smart TV is working fine. The only problem is that when it's off, the red standby light goes on for 15 seconds, then off for 4 seconds constantly. The light is supposed to stay solid red. It isn't affecting anything, the TV. works fine but what is going on inside to create this perfectly timed 15/4 pattern? This seems programmed and not just a random coincidence. Any idea what's causing this? It was just hooked up by Verizon last week.

Hi @greenfern,

What are the results of the suggested tests in an answer to the same question that you posted 3 days ago?

Was it something in the TV or external to the TV that caused this to happen.

If internal get it replaced under warranty.

@jayeff I tried everything. Unplugged, changed batteries on remote, looked at every setting. I don't want a brand new tv fixed; I'd sooner get another but having it set up again would be a hassle and costly. It seems like someone at Samsung would know but they say they never heard of this, so I am posting here in the hope that someone can figure out why I get that exact pattern of seconds. Something is telling the light to do this.

Hi @greenfern,

When power is connected to the TV there's a standby voltage signal generated in the power supply section of the mainboard (the power board is integrated with the mainboard in your model) indicating that the correct power is connected to the TV. This signal is passed to the control section of the board which turns on the red standby light,

If the problem still occurs when everything is disconnected from the TV except the power cord, then it is internal to the TV, either a board hardware problem or a software problem.

You could check if the latest firmware is installed on the TV as there is an update (ver 1341.2) released on 15/2/2024 but it doesn't say what it is for.

The best way to check is if the TV is connected to the internet is to allow the TV to do this as manually installing the wrong firmware update can brick a TV.

Go to Settings > Support > Software Update > Update Now or Auto Update.

If the software is up to date then most likely it is a mainboard problem but you would have to open the TV to hopefully find it on the board, which would void the warranty.

Hey, have you tried tinkering with the TV settings or reaching out to Samsung support about this? Could be just a software hiccup causing the standby light to act up.
