Intense crackling/distortion when using Bluetooth

Yesterday my XM3s started distorting the audio badly over Bluetooth only. When playing audio over a wired connection or the notifications within the headset (power on, Bluetooth connected, etc.) everything sounds perfectly fine. I disassembled them as much as I dared to see if there were any obvious problems and didn't see anything, but I am not experienced enough to really know what I am looking at. Does anyone have any ideas? Thank you!
