Repair guides, disassembly, and troubleshooting information for the Logitech MX Mechanical, a full-size low profile mechanical keyboard from Logitech. Released in May 2022 and identified by part numbers ‎920-010547, 920-010548, or 920-010549 depending on switch type.

Has anyone found a source for keys?

The ctrl key broke off. Looking at its design I suspect this is fairly common given that the attachment for the key is only like 4mm wide and will have a lot of leaver force if the key is hit off center. Has anyone found a source for replacement keys?

I contacted logitech and they do not sell replacement keys.

Logitech doesn't specifically name the switches they use, but from the pictures it looks like they are either Choc v2 or Cherry MX low profile, which share the same keycap stem. Look for either Choc V2 keycaps or Cherry MX low profile keycaps as they can be named either.

Did you try searching via Google? Try Logitech MX Key Cap if this one is not the correct one

Here's one source I found Logitech MX Keys - (1) Single OEM Replacement Key Cap and Hinge

I did search, and that is not for the mx mechanical keyboard. It's a completely different key design.

There are some ebay auctions for mx mechanical keys but as near as I can tell they're all salvaged keys and at least the auction I checked didn't have the specific key I need (left control key).

Based on the design of these keys, I'm guessing there's a pretty high failure rate on that specific key because there's no support to the attachment point, which is only about 4mm wide, and the left control key tends to get hit on the edge rather than the center, causing torsion. Given this I was hoping to find some official source rather than relying on salvaged keys from ebay (though I'll certainly do that if I can't find any other option).

Also, the keys I was finding I think were like $7 per key cap and I think had shipping costs on top of that.

@gerdescm - Sadly, it's a sellers market ☹️

Recycled KeyCaps is not unusual, used parts are often all there is.

The other direction is finding a friend with a good 3D printer to see if then can help you find the needed keycap template file or create your own template file so you can make your own keycap!

I actually have a 3d printer and will probably go that route if I can't find an OEM one.

one thing I'm discovering is it seems like there's some standards in keycaps and the keychron keyboards along with a few others may fit this one.

@gerdescm - can you optically scan the old part to create a framework or take a file that's close to yours modify it.

@danj Unfortunately, I don't have the equipment to scan it.

That being said I did some searching and I found both an entire key replacement for the windows key (which is the same shape and size, unfortunately the replacement does have a W on it), and a repair that basically gets glued to the back of the broken key. I'm going to try the repair first then switch to the windows key if it doesn't work.
