FixHub battery - replace cells

I purchased this station when it first came out. it sat in a drawer for eight months. it was 90% charged or full when i did so. when pulling it out, it was dead. I was reading less than 2V from the cells.

Replacement battery packs were sold out here so i bought a DIY spot welder and six Molicel batteries. I replaced the cells and tabbed it the same way i saw it when i disassembled. I can read 4V from pos-to-neg on each cell. they all have the same chemistry (i drain/charge checked them).

I get 2.0V across the terminals/connector but I can't get the power station to come up.

I was able to hard reset the station and upload the latest firmware (1.4.3 at this time, i believe).

Is the BMS on the battery dead? is the pack not serviceable?

I would've just bought a replacement pack and called it a day but I'd like to try and salvage something from my attempt here.

Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

After looking at photos and reading the label I previously misplaced, I realise I'm not getting the right voltage because I didn't wire the batteries correctly (the centre two inverted)! I had a moment of derp. Completely disregard my original post.

the battery pack should .. 10.8V 56Wh 5200Mah

I'm impressed! You went all out, that's awesome. The battery pack is a 3S2P arrangement, it should output a nominal 12V.

What you have probably seen is a pack that hit the UVLO (Under-Voltage Lock Out), in which the pack discharged slowly until it hit the voltage threshold where it automatically "opened" to prevent damage to the internal cells. This happens around 9V.

If you were able to get 1.4.3 onto the power station, you should just be able to plug the original battery pack back onto the terminals and charge the device normally. It will probably take a little while to get back above 0%, but it should reconnect and charge normally on the newer firmware.

I found a solution how to update 'dead device', just need to unplug the battery and screw wires from the 10-12V adaptor to the connectors, then plug-in usb-c into the port, update the firmware after a successful update, plug the battery back in, and then you will be able to charge the device. Enjoy

PS I got mine from the shop yesterday and am disappointed that it's not turning on and not charging

Genius! Yes, I've connected both + and - poles of the hub, to an power adapter (12V (4Amps in my case)) from an older NAS, using solder wire to wrap around the - (outside the round connector) and + inside the same. I was able to power it up. Soon after I connected a USB-C cable in the port between the battery poles (not the one upfront which just charge), I was able to connect the serial port and use the Webconsole. After the firmware update (mine was still on 1.3.0) to 1.5.0 (latest as today), I've cleared the temporary power wiring, connected the battery back, and powered the back usb-c port with power and it simply started charging! Kudos @margategeek!

A portable power station's battery power output is the amount of electricity it can deliver, measured in watts. This determines how many devices it can run as well as how long it can run for.
