Long term battery storage
I have had my pixel 6 for since 2021 and I love my phone. It hasn't slowed down for me at all and besides the battery swelling up and a cracked screen of my own blunder.
I have since then bought a replacement screen and a replacement battery and i feel as if I'm using a completely brand new phone. I want to buy additional screen and battery to keep for the long run (maybe 10 years of use) before I buy another phone.
What do you guys think the best long term storage of Lithium ion batteries for phones are? I heard some people say leave it at 50% and store room temp. Ive read others store it at 4*C.
If i do need to recharge the battery once in awhile, is there a tool I can use to do this without taking my original phone apart?
I also plan to buy a replacement screen to act as a back up incase i break it again and it is no longer being manufactured; are there specific storage quirks that are associated with storinge phone displays over time?

As far as "storing at 4°C", I don't think you have to focus as much on the exact temp as just "cold but not freezing." I've on occasion stored Li-battery-powered stuff in a plastic bag shoved into my fridge (in a place where food residue won't get on it). Worked just fine.
I'd lower the charge down to about 40% or so.
If you have a volt meter and some resistors, you can manually discharge the battery down. Get it to about 3.3V

thanks for the reply.
Why is your explanation for why batteries last longer if stored cold and and partial charge?

Lithium batteries don't like full charge or discharge. There are some degradation mechanisms that are accelerated by running the battery to it's limits (close to 0% or 100%). So storing in the middle is best.
Cold temperatures slow down the chemical reactions in the batteries. BUT, you don't want to freeze the electrolyte (more damage / accelerated ageing, especially if you try to charge a frozen electrolyte), so "cold but not freezing" works best for storage.

Can you go into more detail or give sources describing the degredation mechanisms of Li-ion batteries from being fully charged and depleted?
Same question for the cold storage of batteries VS at room temp.
I am curious about the chemistry
