Red led blinking 8 times

Panasonic Plasma P50ST60A

My Panasonic plasma won’t turn on.

The red LED blinks 8 times after I try the power button.

Is this something I can resolve myself?

My local repair man says it not worth repairing.

The panel has had little use so I would like to try and save it.
