Speaker replacement troubleshooting assembly

Hi,
I just replaced both of my speakers on my MacBook pro 2015 (a1398). Powered on the mac and both had a muffled sound. I shut down, disconnected the battery and then reconnected both speakers again. The right one is now working just fine, but the problem persisted in the left one. I kept trying to reconnect it better. but in my last attempt the black frame (socket) that is holding it securely with the pins fall off. Is this repairable? I was sure it was just a frame to keep it in place, but it also have a black floor so I am wondering where to go from here. Any assistance will be much appreciated.

These speakers tend to fail from high volume levels as the cone membrane tends to rip. Which I'm suspecting is really your issue. You may want to get new speakers

As far as the connector if you damaged the cable end then you'll need to replace the speaker, if you damage the logic board side you'll need to get a new connector and carefully desolder the old and replacing with a new one.

If you damaged the logic board I would need to see what your logic board looks like to see what the damage was as often times the traces get damaged as well.

Sorry😣

Those were already new speakers. I guess I forgot to mention.

I am not sure if necessarily the connecter got damaged. about the logic board if there is a way to attach another photo here, I can show you.

$30 EACH for these speakers wow.... They are 1/10th of that price out here & for a pair!

@livfe - Don't be so quick! You are also supporting the iFixit mission. This Blog and the teardown's and guides iFixit staff create and political battles they champion within the different countries to keep major players honest and not shaft the public. All of that is rolled into the part price.

You also have an advantage being in Asia where many of the parts are made.

@ori26790 - just create an answer with the images and then when saving click update question.

@ori26790 Looking at a speaker for this model the plastic connector appears to be 1 solid part and the wires and pins will clip in (or pull out), check closely the assembly, has yours split into 2 parts or have the wires just come out of the housing?
