What's my model number

I repair iPads for my friends. I got one today that I need help identifying the model number. I can't find the model number anywhere. It's not on the back of the machine. I looked carefully in the wall of the USB-C port but I don't see anything. Do I need to call the owner and see if she can retrieve it from iCloud.com? How do I find the model number?

The Settings App can tell you under General > About

But that will require access to the device (PIN)

Ah, there's the rub. The machine is currently not workable. The screen is in shards. So I've removed the screen. I can't find any identifying numbers stamped on the case. Is it possible to share a picture of the inside of the screen to show the connectors? Would that help identify the model of the iPad?

@kentburel If you can find some sort of number on it anywhere (which it appears you haven't been able to) you can identify it with https://everymac.com/ultimate-mac-lookup...

@kentburel - There are so many versions of iPads it would be hard to identify just looking at the back of the screen besides we are assuming the 11" models how about the 13" or the Air or Pro series.

Can you narrow down which series and then look at the guides to compare the inside view to yours.

Another thought! You did state it has a USB-C port so if you can connect it to a Mac system using Sidecar I think you can access the settings from the Mac if the iPad screen (what remains) is still connected and the iPad is willing to work and just not able to show you. Here the Mac will be your way in.

You can try to identify it with everymac.com and The Apple Wiki
