Why is my machine so loud?

The first on market models are inherently noisy because of the pump, not the heating block. Ours was a gift, and was just introduced to market. It is, and always has been, noisy when pumping, not when heating water. There's nothing you can do about this except buy a later version that has this issue worked out. This is why, as a rule, I do not buy first generation products. Descale, when it is needed, or indicated by some Keurig models, but do not overdo it. Using expensive, dollar a bottle, bottled water is silly, unnecessary, and actually adversely affects the flavor of good Arabica coffee. Tap water is best.

Just bought K560 and it's so loud, wondering if this is normal for these brewers. This is also our first Keurig and don't know what to expect. Love all the features and how easy it is to use, just wish the noise didn't sound like my machine is about to break!

I've decaled my machine, used filtered water, used bottled water and still the noise persists. It's sad that they can make such a great coffee machine with such an annoying problem. Otherwise, I love it!!

I use only Dasani bottled water and got rid of the obnoxious noise. Still de-scale every couple months.

Just purchased my K575....the pump is so loud! Wish I hadn't purchased the newer, higher priced version of Keurig. So very disappointed!

I have always used bottled water , buy it by the gallon - 99 cents . I found delicous spring water hsd it tested

and was pure and great water . So I started using it in my Keurig and it started making all this grumbling and popping noise when it brews . So , I descaled it and went back to botttled water , and it is fine now . Must

be the spring water is loaded with minerals , and that is good for you , but not the Keurig .

Looks like everyone is trying to blame the water - but if it makes horrible loud noises when brewing, as mine does, it appears more a manufacturing defect than an "operator" problem. I would guess Keurig changed factories and the new one is using inferior parts. And this has apparently been going on for a couple of years, so it is apparent the manufacturer is in no hurry to fix it. Once we decide to NOT replace our Keurig coffee maker and hit the manufacturer in the pocket book - they will start paying attention.

With so many complaints over the same issue, what does Keurig plan to do to satisfy its customers? The noise is totally unacceptable, and I'm tired of having to explain the grating, grinding noise to my guests. This is unfortunate because the Keurig coffee machine process makes great coffee. Keurig, are you listening?

Bought a new Keurig model 475, noisy and annoying. Get this: I called tech support and held the phone to the noisy machine. The rep said that it should not make the noise she heard and promptly put in an order to send me a new one, at which time I should remove a certain vital part from the faulty one and send it back to them. PS, the new makes the same noise. I give up.

I have a K40 and a B60. The K40 is whisper quiet but the the B60 sounds like it's going to shake itself apart when it's drawing water in from the reservoir. I de-scaled it by running a pint of white vinegar through it, which helped a little bit. I also swapped the k40's all plastic drip tray onto the B60 in place of its tray, which has a stainless steel insert. That dropped it another decibel or two but it's still pretty loud. I'm tempted to either replace the main pump motor or figure out some way to dampen the vibration like maybe rubber grommets on the the motor's mounting bracket.

so glad to see others with b60 have this problem! got mine free from someone on facebook and i kinda see why lol but i’ve run multiple cycles of straight vinegar and the quantities still come out less than what they should be. considering tossing it….no initial investment ugh not sure what else to do?!

Bought the Keurig K-compact today because I wanted to downsize and I also love the turquoise color because it matches my new kitchen.

I had a bigger version for 2 years. No noise.

This new one sounds like a chainsaw. Horrible!

I emailed Keurig. I really don’t want to return it to Walmart. What a pain. If the noise is telling me it’s going to Not work soon then I want to exchange it.

If it keeps making the noise but I know it won’t break down I really don’t care.

Well let’s see what happens. I will come back and post what Keurig tells me.

UPDATE:

19 minutes later and I get an email saying they have videos that show you how you can fix the problem. Ummmm I want to know why and If I have to worry about it. So I’m just going to return the machine and see if the new one works. If not, then I will just get a different brand online

So…. I just added a little bit of olive oil to the inlet between the water reservoir and the machine… and it's… quiet…. How come nobody else has ever thought of this after all these years? Enjoy your quiet morning... Shaun Greenslade

Had one given to me as a gift. It worked ok for about a year and then it rebelled. Lots of noise. Should have done what sponge bob and patrick did. Keep the box and throw away the contents. But, I solved my problem. I took it out to the woods and used it for target practice. Wow. Do I feel better.

Descaling and running bottled water to resolve the growling noise when pumping water is like wetting yourself in a dark suit. It gives you a warm feeling for a while and no one will notice. Seriously, the problem is defective design by Keurig. They have littered the internet with propaganda about descaling or putting the machine on a soft surface, or even replacing it as if it is your fault because you bought the model you bought. I don't recall ever seeing a Keurig commercial in which the machine made a loud growling noise, have you? No, it is THEIR problem not ours. As others have said, "vote with your feet" Go buy someone else's machine and maybe Keurig will start taking better care of their customers.
