Background and Identification
A multimeter is a device that measures electrical metrics such as voltage, current, and resistance.
The Fluke 77 Series III is a high quality handheld multimeter in a rugged, ergonomic casing. Despite their higher price points, Fluke multimeters continue to be chosen by professionals, enthusiasts, and hobbyists for their combination of accuracy, durability, and reliability.
The Fluke 77 Series III Multimeter was released in 1999, after the Fluke 73 Series III Multimeter. It has since been replaced by the Fluke 77 Series IV Multimeter and other future models.
The Fluke 77 Series III measures AC/DC current, AC/DC voltage, resistance, continuity, and other electrical metrics via its two leads. It can measure voltage and current in both direct current (DC) and alternating current (AC) modes. The multimeter can be turned on/off, or to any measurement mode by turning the dial. The measurements can be made in auto or manual range modes by pressing the RANGE and HOLD buttons. More information on how to operate the multimeter can be found here.
The Fluke 77 Series III is made of grey plastic, with a yellow rubber border and yellow back casing. Its make and model can be easily identified from the text above its LCD screen.
Even though the Fluke 77 Series III was first released in 1999, Fluke's robust manufacturing means that most of these devices can continue to be used with minimal maintenance. The Fluke Corporation covers the 77 Series III under its lifetime warranty.
