The HyperX Cloud Alpha is a gaming headset equipped with two ear speakers, a microphone, and an inline audio control. The device was released on August 22, 2017 and is still in production today and is available globally.

The device hit the market with an initial price of $99 USD and, as of July 2022, can now be found for $69 USD due to the release of the HyperX Cloud Alpha Wireless, a newer wireless version.

The headset has a few common problems such as echoing and static. The components that tend to fail are the microphone and the memory foam on the ears. The most common complaints involve the failures and components we just talked about. This model is a base model and was superseded by the Cloud Alpha S.

To identify this device, look for the following characteristics. The device is firstly a HyperX headset and should have their logo on the earpiece. The microphone is connected through a jack and can be unplugged easily. An important distinction is that this device uses a wire with audio controls, so make sure you do not have the wireless version.

The device weighs 10.4 oz, and comes in two different colors: black-red and blackout. Black-red is black with red accents on the stitching along the frame, the logo, and each of the hinges connecting the ear pieces to the frame. Blackout is entirely black.
