Background
The Cyber-shot is Sony's line of compact digital point-and-shoot cameras. The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-F1 was the first camera in this line, introduced in 1996. The DSC-F1 featured a swivel lens and flash that could rotate 180 degrees.
Since the introduction of the DSC-F1, Sony has introduced many more cameras in the Cyber-shot line as well as several different series of Cyber-shot cameras. These series include the R and RX series, the H and HX series, the W series, the WX series, the QX series, and the T series.
Identification
The "SONY" name will always be located on the front of the camera. "Cyber-shot" will also typically be printed on the front of the camera, though sometimes will instead be located on the top.
The model will usually be printed somewhere on the body, otherwise it can be located on the label on the bottom of the camera. The model name will contain the prefix "DSC" (standing for digital still camera). The model name will then contain the series of Cyber-shot followed by the model number (for example, DSC-W570).
