[* black] A ribbon cable still links the back plate of the lens assembly to the outer shell. Whilst you can leave this in place, you will then have to take care not to place too much strain on it. You can release it as follows.
[* black] Locate the zoom stow sensor on the top of the lens, and the two zoom motor shaft sensors on the front of the zoom motor.
[* black] Each of these sensors is secured with a spot of black mastic which you need to very gently scrape away with a flat screwdriver. Once you have released it you can withdraw the sensor from its housing by lifting a corner of the ribbon on which it's mounted, taking great care not to damage it.
[* black] On reassembly, ensure that each sensor is pushed firmly home and secured with a spot of adhesive. Cyanoacrylate (superglue) is not recommended as the vapour could fog the lenses and it may be difficult to remove on a subsequent disassembly.
[* black] You can use nail varnish or hot melt glue from a glue gun. A glue gun is likely to dispense far too much, so you can either cut away the excess when cold with a craft knife, or transfer a tiny quantity from the glue gun nozzle on a matchstick.
