Similar to my other answer about your static question, you can do the exact same thing as instructed and repair if need be. Make sure the port is clean, if it isn't try using a different microphone. If the device still doesn't work, refer to the guide for replacing the headphone jack.
This could be one of many issues. First, it could just be a broken microphone, you can easily purchase a new one and simply replace the part. Other than that, it could also be a broken headphone jack. Before assuming it is broken, use a flashlight and make sure the port is clean because any debris can cause static, or failure of the component.
