I want first start by saying mark 73 you are GENIUS. You fixed my iPad 2. Woohoo!!. After Apple told me it was not fixable, and after every phone repair store in town told me it was a bad logic board... I'm here to tell you they were WRONG... now this is how I fixed it... Problem: no backlight after replacing the LCD and touch screen. The fix: 1. Put it under a bright light so you can see the dim background. 2. Go to Settings. 3. Go the bottom where it says, "Reset." 4. Click on Reset. It will ask you to click reset. Do it! 5. Your iPad should reset and the backlight should come on. It worked for me. It saved me from buying a new one $$$! I love this site.
