Beeping Noises From the Computer

There is a continuous beeping noise when the computer is turned on.

The BIOS is Malfunctioning

Try updating and resetting the BIOS using this guide from HP.

Run a diagnostics test on your computer to check that it is performing optimally.

Hardware Drivers are Malfunctioning

Update the drivers the laptop is using through the HP support assistant.

If none of these solutions work then there is an issue with the hardware. Contact HP Support Service for service options.

The Battery Fails to Charge

The laptop is connected to a power adapter that is plugged into a working electrical socket but the battery does not charge.

The Charger is Broken

Check to see if the charging cable is broken by switching out the charging cable with one that is known to work or by looking at the LED charging light to see if the laptop is receiving power.

Avoid using the suspect cable on another laptop as it may cause the other laptop to short out or malfunction as well.

The Internal Battery Connection has broken

To see if the Internal battery connection is faulty you will need to open the laptop case and remove the battery by following this guide.
Clean the battery connection off before putting the battery back in, snapping the cover on and checking to see if the issue is now resolved.

If the connection cannot be cleaned or is broken irreparably look into getting a new laptop.
If the connection is clean and the battery is still not charging or if the battery is visibly damaged, look into getting a replacement battery.

The Laptop Overheats

The higher the temperature of your computer, the higher the risk that your computer will develop technical problems. It is important to distinguish between different temperatures found within a computer. A general temperature of 35 degrees and higher will have your computer at risk. However, two other primary components that can overheat are your CPU and your GPU at 90 degrees and above.

-Some of these common problems may occur if your computer is overheating:

-The computer will freeze on startup and windows do not open.

-The computer may be a lot slower than usual, with basic applications taking much more time to start up than of the norm.

-Applications may stop responding out of nowhere

-Mouse and keyboard may not respond anymore

-The fan inside the computer may start spinning much faster and much louder than normal.

The Surface is Blocking the Heat Vents

Computers can also overheat depending on the surface it's laid on. Laying it on a cloth surface like a bed, for example, can completely restrict airflow. This can be prevented by making sure the computer is on an upright level surface with the vents having space to breathe.

The Room is Too Hot

In some cases relocating your computer to a cooler room can make the difference to prevent a part from failing.

Hardware Failures

Use the diagnostic software for the computer to test for possible hardware failures that may have occurred. To learn how to access the diagnostic software, refer to the following page from the manufacturer’s website.

Dust Buildup

The most common reason most computers overheat is due to dust building up inside the fans in the computer which traps the heat inside. To clean the fan, follow this guide to remove the back panel and gain access to the fan. Then simply use a bit of compressed air to blow out any dust from the fan and the computer assembly.

The Hard Drive Fails

Signs of a hard-drive failure may include computer slowdowns, corrupted data and failures of the computer system and these are some descriptions of the issues and their solutions.

Corrupted Data

One sign of corrupted data is that files you saved will not be found anywhere on the device. Another sign is an immense slowdown of your operating system that could also indicate hard drive failure/corrupted data. To fix this you can download free recovery software that will do all the work for you, simply point the software in the direction of the data that is corrupted and it will do its best to recover it for you. Another option is bringing the laptop to a service professional that can attempt to recover it for you with their recovery software but this will be more costly than the free software listed above.

Blue Screen of Death

Loose cabling with a hard drive could lead to the blue screen of death, to fix this simply open the device and check if the connector is properly plugged into the hard drive, or if the M.2 device is properly seated in its socket and screwed in.

Strange Sounds

Loose cabling with a hard drive could lead to the blue screen of death, to fix this simply open the device and check if the connector is properly plugged into the hard drive, or if the M.2 device is properly seated in its socket and screwed in.

Bad Sectors

Bad sectors are different from corrupted data because this is an issue with the hard drive itself or logical errors caused by the operating system. There are soft and hard bad sectors, soft may be repaired with the software while hard bad sectors cannot be repaired and are indications of an impending hard drive failure. To check for this you can download a hard drive utility software that checks for bad sectors.
