what colour smoke is it? any car on start up will show a little smoke, if its thin white smoke its just condensation and nothing to worry about. if its a thicker blue then it might explain the oil consumption as this could be related to worn piston rings, valve seals, intake manifold gaskets and clogged oil drains. I would start by replacing the valve cover gasket as its a relatively easy job for anyone to do and usually the most common to go first.
