Why does the disk keep skipping?

If the disc is skipping while the DVD player is playing a movie, the DVD may be scratched. In this case the disc laser will not be able to read the disc. Put in a different DVD in order to see if the problem is the DVD itself, not the DVD player. If the DVD is not the problem, the DVD player may be overheated or the connection between the logicboard and the disc tray may be loose or damaged.
