speedometer in vehicle only works sometimes

I haven't done a whole lot to get to the bottom of the issue. I did, however, replace the transmission speed sensor, but that wasn't the case. Now I'm going to disassemble the cluster and look for anything out of the ordinary. Any info on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

I had this issue; I ended up buying a second hand speedometer and swapping out the circuit board, that way I kept the original mileage. Has worked great ever since.
