Hello, I am attempting to repair my iPad Air Gen 1, and the suction cup won't stick enough to pull up the adhesive. It's cracked so badly (spiderwebbed) that without the tape, the cup only cracks the screen further.
Any suggestions? Thanks very much.

I usually apply transparent tape all over the broken areas.
Nonetheless, the suction cup will still not hold. You just have to do without it. Lift the edges of the digitizer using a thin tool such as the iSesamo then insert a guitar pick or credit card and run it along the edges while watching out for the flat cables and antennas. Follow iFixit's guide and you'll see where they're located and what to watch out for.

Lots of heat, iSesamo, and patience.
Take your time getting all the glass up, be careful around the connectors. Airs are a pretty straight forward screen replacement if you take your time. Heat an area, use the iSesamo to pry up the glass, move to the next area. Take it an inch at a time. Once you get the glass up, use Goo Gone and IPA to get the adhesive off.

Follow the step by step instructions on here very carefully. You are going to need some heat to loosen the adhesive and something to jimmy between the glass and frame to lift the glass.
I also recommend watching videos on you tube on how this is done. I'm thinking that this may be your first ipad repair so be patient and careful. Things can escalate quickly if you aren't ...
