Ever since i've had this gps (3 or so years) it would occasionally not power up using the computer cord or the auto adapter.. I've never liked the male / female cord hook up and I suspect my problem is tight there. Can I test this without investing a ton of money for a fix?

Hi,
Here is a link to the Ifixit guide for your GPS. You could dis-assemble it to see if the power connector is loose on the board
