1 Why is gps not working

Depending on your navigation app, it could be as simple as your Internet connection. Google, among others, use both GPS (for raw latitude/longitude) and Web (for maps).
I have seen this before in unconnected devices.
You could also try checking out whether the app might be glitching due to spoiled cache (app manager-location/maps-clear cache/data)
