I suggest that you contact the manufacturer and ask them. It never hurts to ask.;-)
If the manufacturer informs you that it is faulty and cannot be repaired, how long have you had the thermometer?
There is a 1 year manufacturer's warranty (plus additional 1 year if registered with the manufacturer) on the product. If your thermometer is still within the warranty period, ask them what you have to do to claim a manufacturer's warranty replacement or refund.
