Why do I keep getting this alert?

Every time I open my computer, I get an alert that states

“Alert! The AC power adapter wattage and type cannot be determined. The battery may not charge. The system will adjust the performance to match the power available.

Note: This warning can be disabled in BIOS setup.”

I have gone to BIOS setup multiple times and it still comes up. My battery no longer charges, but my computer says it’s healthy. My computer is also running very slow, which is annoying. What else can I do in the BIOS setup to fix this problem and make so that my performance isn’t hindered?

I have the same issue. I am using the original charger. Also when this started the laptop began operating slowly.

Use an original Dell charger on your laptop.

Using aftermarket ones or different model chargers that are not compatible will cause the laptop to only run on wall charger but not charge the battery.

I had this same problem within a year after purchasing my Dell 15 5567. A new Dell charger didn't fix it. Luckily laptop was still under warranty and sent it to Dell and they replaced the system board. Now 5 years later laptop has same issue again and not under warranty however it turns out the charger was bad this time(verified this by taking my laptop into an electronics store that sells Dell laptops and plugged in the charger powering the display model and it started charging). Also I bought a generic charger and it works fine(Insignia brand from BestBuy).Symptoms of the charger going bad was having to unplug/plug in cord multiple times or twist the connector in the socket until it started charging.
