Battery replacement iPod touch 6 gen

Replaced a couple batteries in a couple iPod touch 6 gens. They turn on and everything works but the battery even after the replacement seems to discharge really fast and I’m not sure as to why. Could be bad batteries ? Not enough solder on the battery contacts ? Any insight would be greatly appreciated .

Bad batteries are always a possibility. Or it could be something in the iPod is drawing excessive current due to a fault. However if you are seeing this on multiple devices, poor quality batteries is the most likely reason.

It will be hard to troubleshoot without some known-good, or at least high quality parts. Personally, I like to test my “suspect” batteries with a dummy load so that I can see how much juice they can deliver.

Also if it does apply. Would bad battery also be the reason why if I plug it in and indicates charging but battery percentage doesn’t go up no matter how long you leave it on charge would also be the battery itself ?

It could also be a problem with the charging circuit on the logic board or a bad charger/Lightning cable.

I tried three lightning cables and they all indicate charging but it just doesn’t want to charge so I’m hoping it’s a bad battery and not also the charging port cause the charging port looks like a really intense job

Check your solder connections. Sounds like something isn’t connected correctly or possibly shorted. Was the percentage going up with the old batteries?

I replaced one today (battery from ifixit) and on first charge it only charges to 67% and don‘t go further.

Is this a normal behavior and is a part of calibration?
