Is your laptop a Dell Vostro 1440 by any chance?

If so, then an 8 beep code is a display panel failure or a LVDS cable (display cable) failure.

It may be that the 8 beep code means the same if your laptop is a Dell Inspiron 1440 as they are comparable laptops.

Here’s a link to the Vostro 1440 service manual. Scroll to p.53 to view the necessary pre-requisite steps and then the procedure to remove the display assembly. This will allow you to inspect the LVDS cable and its’ connection to the motherboard and screen as well as removing the display if it is the problem.

If it is the LVDS cable or the screen that is the problem, search online for the part appropriate to your particular model. With the display panels (and perhaps the LVDS cable) the part number is usually printed on it somewhere so that you can verify that you are getting the correct part.
