Hi,
Did you try adjusting the display’s “dim setting”, you didn’t say?
I have found two user manuals online for a Bose Wave radio but neither state the actual model number so here are the two “options” on how to adjust the display lighting.

If this doesn’t resolve the problem, here’s a link to the ifixit Bose Wave Radio AWR1-1W Screen Replacement guide, which may be of some help to check the connections to the display module and its’ associated components.

Boselover is glad to see there are still good repair/operation sites out there!
Did try without sucess......wondered if there was any other fixes without replacement. ie components on the board.
It did work for me. Do it in the dark. I still may need a replacement clock board, but ....good luck with that, lol.
