The LCD screen is faulty and needs to be replaced.

If doing the repair yourself is too daunting, contact a reputable, professional mobile phone repair service and ask for a quote to repair the phone. You will already know the cost of the part.

Also if you haven’t done so, backup the phone to the cloud or a PC, using the phone’s backup feature, while you still can, before the screen gets any worse. At least this way you will have saved all your personal data etc in case anything goes wrong (hopefully not) with the repair.
