Samsung Freezer Not Cold Enough

Sorry, but I'm still learning how to use this forum. Yes, the evaporator is icy cold. I'm just really puzzled why the sensor is indicating such a different temperature than the actual temp of the compartment; however, the sensor is clipped on the evaporator coil tubing so it's reading that temp vs the air temp in the main compartment. I'm going to recheck the operation of the fans to make sure they are working properly?

Was the sensor, part #13-1 in the freezer section the one that you replaced?

Sounds like you're talking about the defrost sensor (part #14-2) as it is clipped to the evaporator coils. It is used to signal when the temp is 29 F (or thereabouts) to end the auto defrost cycle so that the compressor is restarted so that everything is cooled back down again, not to indicate the normal operating temp of the freezer. The operating temp sensor is part #13-1

Here's a link to the service manual if you wish to buy it. Have noticed with other Samsung fridge manuals that they give the resistance values of the thermistors (temp sensors) for the temps from about -50F to +50F so that they can be measured and checked if they are OK or not at whatever temp. Just some thoughts.

I ordered and replaced the freezer temp sensor part #13-1 and the problem still remains . I have also ordered the Service Manual and am anxiously awaiting its arrival.

The really intriguing part about all of this is how the freezer temp control system is behaving. I can raise and lower the setpoint on the front control panel and the freezer temp as indicated on the panel will indicate it is following the setpoint; however, the actual temp in the freezer as indicated by a thermometer remains around +20 to +25 degrees F, and a bottle of water will barely freeze. Right now, the panel is indicating that the freezer is holding at -14 degrees F, but the actual compartment temp is +25.

The parts I have changed to date are Sensors #14-2 (in error) and #13-1 as well as both the Inverter Board #31 and the main ECB part #30. The boards were changed fairly recently, due to other issues with the cooling of both the refrigerator and freezer compartments. Refrigerator section is working fine now.

Did you check if the evaporator fan in the freezer compartment is operating?

Not sure with your model but with a lot of fridges if you manually operate the door switch you can feel the fan operating with the door open as the fan is stopped when a door is opened to prevent the cold air being blown out of the compartment.

By manually operating the door switch you fool the control board that the door is shut and the fan is restarted.

My thinking on this is that the temp at +20-25 may just be the temp that is produced by the cold emanating from the evaporator unit and not what is produced when the air is circulated over it continually therefore driving the temp down as the colder air is passed again and again over the unit.

This doesn't explain why the control panel shows that it is colder than it actually is though

Also -14F to my mind is way too cold a temp. I thought freezers were normally at 0F (mine is set to -18 C which is ~0F) or thereabouts, but perhaps that may just be location. 0F is 32 degrees below freezing therefore -14 would be 46 below. Hopefully the service manual will show what the max freezer temp is
