Pre-lit tree with remote not working

Tree worked but next day did not work. The power button on the remote is not working. I have taken it apart and its a programmable remote. I have a pen that detects power source, I took that to the chip and wiring and no power. The main plug has power going to the tree. Can I bypass the remote and have the lights stay on without the other programmable settings? Can I replace the remote?

Hi @edotde,

Have you checked if the batteries in the remote are OK, you didn't say?

Does the "pen that detects power source" detect voltages as low as what is used in the remote? Usually they don't measure below 12V and a remote's battery voltage is normally less than that - mostly they're 3V.

What is the make and model number of the tree (and/or perhaps the model number of the remote)?

My remote for my prelit isn't working either

If your pre-lit Christmas tree is not working and the power button on the remote is not functioning, there are a few possible causes and solutions:

  1. Dead batteries: The first thing to check is the batteries in the remote. If the batteries are dead, the remote will not be able to transmit a signal to the tree and the lights will not turn on. Try replacing the batteries in the remote and see if that fixes the issue.
  2. Range issues: If the batteries are not the problem, the next thing to check is the range of the remote. The remote may not be able to transmit a signal to the tree if it is too far away or if there are obstacles in the way. Try moving the remote closer to the tree and see if that fixes the issue.
  3. Faulty remote: If the range is not the problem, the remote itself may be faulty. In this case, you can try replacing the remote with a new one. Most pre-lit Christmas trees come with a universal remote that can be used to control the lights, so you should be able to use a universal remote to control the tree.
  4. Faulty tree: If none of these solutions work, the problem may be with the tree itself. In this case, you can try bypassing the remote and using the tree's built-in control panel to turn the lights on and off. Most pre-lit Christmas trees have a control panel that allows you to do this, so you should be able to turn the lights on manually without using the remote.

I hope this information helps. Good luck with your Christmas tree!
