Keyboard ribbon cable and speaker

The tablet speaker was not working.While opening the back cover for checking the speaker, the keyboard ribbon cable came off at both ends from both the connectors.Now I am not sure about the orientation of the flat cable.Contact side facing down in the mother board connector? Also what should be the orientation in the back cover connector?

Also please inform me the specifications of the speaker like watts,ohm etc.,for replacement as I am in India.

Hi @shanks51,

Please verify the make and model number of your device.

The device you selected doesn't have a separate keyboard, unless you meant the digitizer screen.

Hi @jayeff,

It is an RCA Tablet.Model RCT6203W46 which is having a detachable keyboard folio.As mentioned in my OP since the ribbon cable needs to be replaced,I need confirmation regarding contacts' side orientation.

I have to buy the speaker locally in India and I need speaker technical details also.

Hi @shanks51 ,

Best that I can suggest is to look at the images in the ifixit RCA RCT6203W46 Screen/Digitizer Replacement guide and check how the cables appear. On most of them you can see the wires in the cable as their pattern is distinctive. Also some have a part number printed on them so again that gives an idea of orientation.

Regarding the speaker, if the old speaker is still in the tablet check what is printed on the speaker itself. Usually the impedance value is shown on the magnet. Unfortunately nothing is shown on the images in the ifixit RCA RCT6203W46 Rear Speaker Replacement guide but hopefully it may be on your speaker. As to its dimensions, just measure the diameter of the speaker.

Hi jayeff,

Thank you very much for your reply. As suggested by you I went thro' the link you have sent and other related videos to find out ribbon cable contact orientation. After going thro' the videos many a time, I found out that the contact side of the ribbon cable shall be facing downwards at motherboard and back cover connector ends.

As for as speaker is concerned, there is no luck. There are no details at the back of my speaker. I have to try only trial and error.

Anyway thanks a lot for your help.
