Why is my screen so dim?

i remember the sp having a really bright backlight. i feel like mine might be dying. I checked my battery because it was draining so fast, i saw it had swollen up on one side, so i replaced the battery for a new aftermarket. It lasts longer than before, but the screen is still dim and I'm worried the previous battery's condition might have been a side effect rather than the true cause.

battery life on the original battery: about an hour maybe

battery life on the replacement: about 3 hours.

is my screen dying and causing my battery to drain faster?

Usually all video devices that are rechargable have a screen brightness adjustment in the settings you maybe need to check and set it to a brighter setting.

my gba sp only has a backlight on/off button. thats it, nothing else

@charaznabl39130 "screen dying and causing my battery to drain faster?" most likely not. this sounds strictly like a bad back-light. You do want to remove the screen. Clean the connector with some isopropyl alcohol and cotton tip applicator. Check the ribbon cable for tears, corrosion or frayed ends. Check the button with a multimeter in ohm mode, to see if you have continuity when on and no continuity when off.

It also depends on how dark is dark. It is possible that the complete backlight has failed. Let us know the exact model number for your GBA SP and post some good pictures of your board, the ribbon cable and connector. That way we can see what you see. 기존 질문에 이미지 추가하기
