For me, The AMD Radeon card which comes as the second graphics card in this laptop, has completely disappeared in the system. Task manager, Device manager, or dxdiag do not recognize it, and amd driver installer doesn't detect it either, the copy of linux I also have installed on the system, doesn't recognize it either. I haven't opened it and would rather not. What do you think could be the problem?

Perhaps check in BIOS to see if there's an option to disable the AMD GPU.
If there's not, there's some reason why the GPU is not communicating with the I/O chipset on the motherboard so you will have to open it up and see if anything obvious is wrong. After that you may need the schematics to find out what's happened.
Here's the hardware maintenance manual that will help gain access to the motherboard
