I have probably damaged the vias on a 1914 controller.

Hello,

Trying to remove the left joystick from the PCB has gone bad, due to the lack of experience ( my first attempt ever ) and improper tools, it ended up in damaging the vias (if that is what those holes are) and at this moment, I don't know if anything else. The question is, is this something fixable, and if yes, how? I have attached some pictures with the damage, the silver and copper rings are damaged or missing from several vias. Also, do you think the silver rectangle from the last screenshot is damaged also? I did not interfere with it, but I think I may have used to much heat on the soldering iron.

Hi Catalin!

Yes, those traces are damaged. You can fix this, but it won't be easy. You need to fix the traces by following them and make news ones! This is the only way how to fix it now. There is not a specific guide about this for the controller. But you need to follow the traces and make actually new ones which you can solder to the damaged holes. Afterward you can test with a multimeter by doing a continuity test to see if they make contact.

Sorry for the bad news! Hopefully you can get it repaired again.

Thank you for your response. Well, what can I say, then I think I'll keep it for practice, I think I may have learned a little bit more in the meantime and also I'm waiting for an electric desoldering pump to arrive, maybe I'll have more luck with that. :))
