Can I replace my AC adaptor jack?

My son dropped his macbook from couch, and it landed on the interface where the power cord connects to jack. The jack looks displaced into the machine and the computer will not charge. The adapter cord does adhere well to the jack, but no charge ( no light on cord, no power to computer). Is this something that can be fixed? Can I do this myself? Ihave been unable to find anything on-line to suggest how to do this. Thanks!!

The magsafe DC in board in the Unibody A1342 is located under the logic board so you have to remove the logic board to access it. It's a difficult job if you have no experience repairing portables. Small connectors are pretty fragile and easy to damage.

But the good news is that the DC in board is screwed to the case with two small black torx screws. Before removing the logic board I would try to unscrew these two screws (check step 19) and try to replace the DC in board in the case socket using a small metallic flat screwdriver (the magsafe board is magnetized). You should be able to put it back in place. I'm pretty sure that you currently getting no power because the magsafe DC in board and the magsafe AC adapter pins are not making contact.

Yes this can be fixed on most Macbooks. To get you to the correct guide please give us the last three figures of your serial number located in the battery compartment.

the bottom of the computer says " contains FCC ID QDS-BRCM1047 and IC:4324A-BRCM1047.

Is this enough, or do I need to take off the bottom to find additional serial number?

thanks!
