Ice maker water leak?

I just purchased a used side by side that cools fine, but I am having problems with the water/ice maker. When I turn on the water, I get an immediate leak. It is as if a broken line, valve or what ever. It is coming from the top of the ice making tray. Any suggestions as to what it might be or how to troubleshoot?

Update (11/21/25)

Further inspection finds that the water is coming from here; from a silicon tube extending from the ceiling of the freezer. I am guessing that there is a float or weight valve somewhere that is not working. The icemaker does produce and deposit ice, but the water will not shut off on its own.

Yes, I did take the door off to instaul the fridge. Is it possible to have plugged the wrong wires together? The connections did look similar

Hi @randyjaco

Reassemble the ice maker back into position and then run the Self-Diagnostics function - either during Initial Power On (assuming you had the power disconnected when working on the ice maker) or during normal operation as shown on p.40 of the service manual and check if any error codes are displayed.

If error code 6 is shown go to p.41 to find out what to try.

Thanks for the response and especially for the Service Guide. I was just about to buy one. It appears that the water valve is bad, so I will be ordering one. Hopefully that will solve the problem.
