PC making weird buzzing noises

Hey everyone,

I’ve recently started having an issue with my PC where it makes a constant buzzing sound as soon as it starts up, and the noise does not stop as long as the PC is on. This wasn’t happening before — it started about a month ago, and I bought/built the PC back in May, so it’s still pretty new.

I’m not sure if it’s coil whine, a fan issue, PSU noise, or something vibrating. The buzzing is noticeable and definitely wasn’t there during the first few months.

Here are my full specs:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D (4.7 / 5.2 GHz)
Motherboard: Gigabyte X870 AORUS ELITE WIFI7
GPU: ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 5070 Ti SOLID SFF OC 16GB GDDR7
Case: CORSAIR 3500X ARGB Black
SSD: Samsung 990 EVO Plus NVMe
PSU: MSI MAG A850GL PCIe5
Cooler: Lian Li Hydroshift LCD 360R Black
RAM: Kingston Fury Beast 32GB DDR5 6000

Monitor: ASUS ROG Strix XG259CMS 24.5" 310Hz

It seems that there are a lot of fans in the PC i.e. 3 case fans, 3 GPU fans, 1 CPU fan and a PSU fan one of which may be making the noise unless it's a power hum.

To try and eliminate the fans as the problem, download and install this program and use it to control the fans to see if you can control the noise by controlling the fans to work out if it is a fan making the noise.

If that doesn't work for all fans, can you individually disconnect each case fan one at a time, to see if the noise stops?

If the noise is still there it may be one of the others.

Not sure if this will work but to eliminate if the GPU fans are the problem, switch to using the CPU's integrated graphics i.e. connect monitor to motherboard's HDMI or DP port instead of the Zotac GPU port. This should turn off the Zotac GPU fans.

To check the CPU fan, try regulating the fan speed in BIOS.

To check the PSU fan you could try letting Windows go into sleep mode as the PSU should have a lower power draw and the fan may either not run or run at a lower speed.

If all of the fans are OK on p.32 of the user manual it mentions a noise detection header. I don't know anything about how it works but maybe worth following up.
