Backlit keyboard stoped working

Hi 👋

After changing thermal paste I was putting components together and while installing the keyboard the ribbon cable for backlight was bent a little too much accidentally, now it had a small part of it that's seem broken, even though I tried to flatten it with my fingers, since then backlit won't work anymore and I get an error concerning touchpad when running the BIOS ' diagnosis, which I believe is normal since both touchpad and keyboard are connected to the motherboard using one ribbon cable (touchpad and keyboard work fine)

Is there a way to fix it at home ?

The cable for the keyboard backlights is integrated in the keyboard and is not a removable cable that can be replaced. Besides which the cable isn't available as a spare part.

You will have to replace the keyboard to resolve the problem.

Search online for 383D7¹ to find suppliers that suit you best.

Usually the Dell part number can be found somewhere on the underside of the keyboard, if you wish to verify the keyboard part number before ordering.

Go to p.14 in the owner manual to see how to remove/replace the keyboard in the laptop.

¹ The keyboard is used in a lot of different Dell laptops. Make sure that the seller shows your model in the ad or other models that you know that the keyboard is compatible with.
