Why is no sound

@pio41388 you have not told us if you have already tried teh headphone jack. We also need to know the exact model number for your compute. There are a few different HP Envy 17 inch laptops.

First you want to check your volume on your laptop and make sure it is turned up and that it is not mute somewhere. Also, check the audio driver under your device manager and see if a. the driver is present and b. the driver is up to date. I would delete the current driver and reinstall the most recent one.

Next step is to rule out a mechanically stuck headphone jack. A stuck pin inside the port will route the audio signal away from the speakers, which would indicate to your laptop that headphones are connected and the speakers will not work.

Try plugging and unplugging a standard set of headphones a few times to see if that frees up the pin. If you hear audio through the headphones but the internal speakers remain dead after removing them, the port itself is likely stuck and may need to be desoldered and replaced

If the headphone jack is clear and the operating system drivers are functioning, the issue can be a disconnected or damaged internal speaker cable. Open the bottom chassis and inspect the wiring harness for any tears or pinched areas. Then disconnect the speaker connector, inspect the pins for damage, and seat it firmly back on the motherboard.

If the wiring harness and the connections are okay, you are looking at a boardlevel failure most likely involving the audio amp IC or the main audio codec chip.
