Concern about which ram would be compatible
Hello, I have a Mac Pro 5.1 mid 2012 with a single processor, and I have this RAM. I plan to replace the original processor, which is a 3.2 GHz, with a Xeon x5690 processor. The question is, can I install this RAM with the old processor? Because I have installed it and the Mac Pro won't turn on, it could be that this RAM is only for that x5690. Thank you.

@elcheca1 I am a bit confused. Are you saying that the original processor is the Xeon x5690 processor? That is the processor that is currently in your Mac Pro? Or, that is the processor you've changed it to from something like a Xeon W3565? Anyhow, yes that memory is supported by both processors. Make sure that you do not have a mix of memory sticks. Also, make sure that the processor has worked in your Mac Pro after you've installed it. You do not want to chase the wrong component :-)

@oldturkey03 Yes, that w3565 is the one I'm going to replace, but it seems strange to me that the Mac Pro doesn't recognize the RAM.

@elcheca1 shouldn't be the RAM since both processors support it. How many sticks are you using? All the same?

@oldturkey03 I only have one RAM, I just wanted to try if it was compatible, but I have put it in the different slots and it doesn't work.

@elcheca1 does it work when you have your W3565 connected? My concern here is that this is a processor issue and not a RAM issue.
