Background and Identification
The HP Pavilion dv4000 laptop (model number: EC681AV) was released in March 2005. It runs on the Windows XP operating system. This laptop is highly customizable, allowing access to each component to upgrade yourself. The dv4000 comes with a 6 cell battery but can be upgraded to a 12 cell battery, adding a little more weight. From the factory, this laptop is 6.5 pounds, with the 12 cell battery bringing it closer to 7 pounds. The screen is a vibrant and glossy, but can have a lot of glare in a bright room and even reflect like a mirror. The CD/DVD drive is equipped to burn discs, and is whisper quiet when readings DVDs.

This laptop has no limitations on upgrading the hard drive, as long as it is a 2.5" drive (3.5" desktop hard drives are too large).
