Introduction
Hello, my name is Cherry!
I attend UC Davis, where I am a 4th-year Design major with a minor in Psychology. After graduation, I hope to be a user experience (UX) designer. My dream is to work for a company that shares my passion for bettering people's lives through self-care.
Two important aspects of UX design are having empathy for your users and designing for understanding. These design skills connect well to technical writing because understanding your audience and writing clearly and concisely is especially important in this discipline.
Repair Experience
I have a bit of experience with electronic repair, but I'm excited to learn more through the iFixit project! When I built my first custom-built PC, I used iFixit guides to put everything together, which built my confidence for completing other repairs.
I also have an interest in sewing and upcycling thrifted clothes. It is an exciting opportunity to be creative and give a new life to old clothing. If a piece of clothing doesn't quite fit me right, is too long, or has some damage to it, I'm able to repair it and restore the piece to wearable condition.
My favorite repair project was an electronic repair where I replaced the shell, buttons, and joysticks on my Nintendo Switch Lite. My shell was scratched and my Switch was suffering from the dreaded Joystick drift issue. After replacing those components, it felt good as new!
This project helped me understand the importance of repair and how just a bit of work can make a huge impact on how you value your possessions. My Switch brings me so much joy when I look at it because I know that I was able to fix it myself. It is so rewarding to successfully complete a repair, and I hope to write repair guides that give my readers that same sense of accomplishment.
Hobbies
Aside from school and design work, I love to upgrade my PC, play video games, read, and go to the gym!
