No Sound

No sound is being produced from the speakers on your laptop.

Speakers are on Mute

The laptop's speakers settings may be set on mute.

Click on the sound icon in the bottom right hand corner of the screen and make sure mute speakers is not enabled. If it is click on the icon to unmute the speakers.

Audio Drivers Need to be Updated

The laptop's audio drivers may be out of date causing no sound to be produced from the speakers.

Visit www.acer.com and inside the support tab click on drivers and manuals. Enter the model number: Aspire R7-371T and click on drivers. Find, download, and install the driver labeled "Audio Driver".

Incorrect Audio Device Enabled

The laptop's speakers settings may be set to play sound out of a different audio device other than the laptop's built-in speakers.

Click on the sound icon in the bottom right hand corner of the screen and then click on the speaker icon at the top of the menu that opens. A "Speakers Properties" tab will open up and near the bottom of the tab there is a "device usage" menu. Make sure “Use this device (enable)” is enabled, if not click on the drop down menu and select this option.

Laptop Won't Turn On

When pressing the power button, the laptop won't power on.

Laptop Needs to be Charged

The laptop may be out of battery and needs to be charged.

Connect your laptop charger and then try powering up your laptop. If the problem still persists, let the laptop charge for a short while (approximately 20 mins) and try powering up again.

Faulty Power Adapter

The laptop's power adapter that charges the laptop may be faulty.

Plug the AC adapter into the wall and connect it to your laptop. If the light on the AC adapter does not turn on, then there is a malfunction with the power adapter. If this is the case you will need to purchase a replacement AC adapter which can be found on online stores such as Amazon.com.

Dead Battery

The laptop's battery may be dead or fried due to over usage or from being old.

If the light on the AC adapter is on when connected to the laptop, but the charge light on the laptop is not on, then there is an issue with the laptop's battery. In order to fix this you will need to replace the laptop's battery.

Laptop Stuck on Black Screen

The screen display on the laptop is black and unresponsive.

Laptop in the Middle of an Installation

The laptop may currently be in the middle of an installation and may be working on updating your computer.

If the black screen persists for more than a few hours, there could be an issue with the installation. The easiest fix for this is to force your computer to restart by holding down the power button for 30 seconds.

Battery Issues

The laptop's battery may be malfunctioning causing no image to display on the screen.

Disconnect the computer from the charger and any other ports in use. Turn off the computer by holding down the power button for about 30 seconds, and then let go. Press the power button once again to turn on the laptop again.

Wrong Projection Settings

Your laptop may be set to project on a different screen and not be set to the default, which would be to display on your screen.

Hit the Windows key + P, and reset the display settings to default if it isn't already.

Keyboard Not Typing Correctly

The keyboard is not inputting correct symbols or is not inputting any at all.

Debris in Keyboard

There may be debris residing in the underside or edge of the laptop's keys causing the keys not to be triggered.

Hold the laptop upside down and shake to remove any large pieces of debris. If this doesn’t solve the issue, acquire a can of compressed air and spray around the troublesome key(s).

Key Delay Rate has been Adjusted

The laptop's key delay rates may be set improperly causing some keys not to be registered when pressed.

Go to the control panel and search “keyboard.” This will prompt a page that will allow you to adjust key delay rates, simply randomly adjusting these setting could resolve the issue by forcing the software out of a glitch.

Software Issue

A setting in the laptop's software may be causing the keys to act improperly.

Turn on your computer and press the Alt and F10 keys during startup. A screen will appear presenting several options, click “Troubleshoot.” Then choose “Refresh your PC.” This will reset your computers settings to the default factory settings while keeping your files intact.

Repetitive Loop Of Boot-Up Screen

Windows repeatedly restarts itself when trying to get to the login screen or desktop.

Safe Mode Boot

The laptop may be suffering from a software or hard drive issue and may need to be booted up in Safe Mode so that you will only have access to the basic operations of the laptop.

When the laptop is starting up, continuously press the F8 key until you see a screen with the words "Advanced Boot Options." When you see this, select "Safe Mode" and press enter. If you do not see "Advanced Boot Options," restart the laptop and re-try the steps again.

Faulty Hard-Drive

The issue may be that your hard drive, or storage space on your laptop is infected to the point where it does not load properly.

You can always test to see if it is a hard drive problem by loading the laptop with another hard drive and seeing if it works. If you do not have an extra hard drive you will have to purchase one and replace the faulty hard drive.

Software Issue

The issue may be that the copy of Windows on the computer is corrupted. This means that it has been altered, directly or indirectly, and it no longer functions properly.

Press the ALT and F10 key during startup. This will bring you to a screen presenting you with several options. Click the "Troubleshoot" tab and then click "Advanced Options." In "Advanced Options," click the "Automatic Repair" option and then wait and see if Windows is able to fix itself.

Touch Pad Not Working

Touch Pad does not respond correctly or is unresponsive.

Touch Pad is Disabled by Hotkey

If your laptop is updated to Windows 10, you may have accidentally disabled the Touch Pad.

To enable it, press the keys FN + F7.

Touch Pad is Disabled in Device Settings

Your Touch Pad may be disabled within the device settings of your laptop.

To locate this setting, click on the Start button at the bottom left. Click on the cog, or settings button. Click on devices, then mouse and touch pad. Open up additional mouse options, and go to mouse properties. From here, click on devices, and make sure that the Touch Pad is enabled. Apply and click OK.

Software Issue

Your drivers may be faulty or outdated, especially if you have recently updated to Windows 10. This can cause touch pads to become unresponsive.

To update your touch pad driver, press the Windows key + R key. In the Run window, type: "devmgmt.msc"

Press enter, and go to Mice. Right click on the touch pad driver and click Update Driver Software.

If this does not automatically update, you may have to manually update the driver. Go to https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/dr... and type in your laptop model number, "Aspire R7-371T." Scroll down and locate the "Touchpad Driver." Download and install, then restart your computer.

Wireless Internet not Working

Laptop has weak or no wireless internet connection.

Poor Connection to Router

This laptop has a built in wireless adapter, which may receive poor connection to your router if there is interference or a large distance between you and the router.

If possible, move closer to or in direct range of the router. This will allow for little interference. If your connection is still poor, your router may be too weak to support all of the connecting devices wirelessly. Ethernet cables allow for direct connection between router and computer, eliminating the possible interference over wireless connection.

Wireless Settings not Properly Optimized

Your laptop settings may not be allowing the wireless adapter to perform at max efficiency.

Click on the Start menu at the bottom left, and then Settings. From here, click Devices, then Network Adapters. Open the Broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter and then the Advanced tab. Change the value of "IBSS Mode" from 802.11a/b/g Auto to "802.11a/b/g Performance". Then change the value of "XPress (TM) Technology" from Disabled to "Enabled".

Software Issue

Your laptop drivers may be faulty or out of date.

Navigate to the Acer drivers webpage at https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/dr... and type in your laptop model number, "Aspire R7-371T." Scroll down and download the Wireless LAN Driver. Install, then restart your computer.
